Join the Junior Advocate Program!

The Texas Humane Legislation Network has some really big news… and we can’t wait to share it!  After 45+ years of promoting the humane treatment of animals through legislation and advocacy, we are launching the Texas Humane Network, a companion 501-c3 organization solely focused on education and training! Both THLN and THN will continue to make Texas a more humane state together: THLN through lobby work to pass laws improving animal welfare and THN through education and outreach.

Discover how focused, purposeful and effective community outreach can be part of your organization’s strategy and how building positive relationships with pet owners can improve the quality of life for pets and people in your community.

About the Program

Texas Humane Network also has an Animal Cruelty Hotline wherein anyone can call in and ask for help in regarding potential acts of animal cruelty and laws, while guiding citizens on process to report to law enforcement. All of these lead to the same goal – teach children and adults alike about the humane treatment of animals. There is a well-documented link between childhood cruelty to animals and violent behavior as an adult and our hope is that humane treatment will lead to the development of empathy, which we know can be taught at a young age. Teaching kindness to animals through our children will lead to a humane tomorrow.

In 1933, the National PTA Congress issued the following statement in support of humane education:

“Children trained to extend justice, kindness, and mercy to animals become more just, kind, and considerate in their relations with each other. Character training along these lines will result in men and women of braver sympathies, more humane, more law-abiding in every respect more valuable citizens.”

How do I know if the Junior Advocate Program is for me?

The Junior Advocate program is right for you if you are:
